It’s midnight. The children are sleeping and you’ve finally eaten dinner, caught up on your work, maybe even started a load of laundry.

You get in the shower and are so exhausted that you sit on the tile and just rest, and can’t even remember what it’s like to not have children.
*newborn cries*
You quickly get out the shower and still have shampoo in your hair to feed your newborn. 45 minutes later your newborn is ready to lay down again. You go back to the shower to finishing showering. You look down at your postpartum body and you probably feel every emotion possible. You feel proud your body carried your child, wonder if your body will ever go back to the way it was, and maybe even touch your stomach because it’s still soft and tender from birth. You get out the shower and silently pray that both kids sleep long enough for you to feel alive.

You wish you had someone to tell you this was normal, easier times are ahead, and you’re doing great.

Postpartum doulas do that.

You wish you had someone to hold your newborn while you enjoy a hot shower while listening to your favorite song at the highest volume, and not having to worry about whether your newborn is being cared for.

Postpartum doulas do that.

You wish you had someone to care for your newborn at night so you can get a full nights sleep and wake up ready to take on the world the next day.

Postpartum doulas do that.

You wish you had someone to help wash those bottles that are on the counter, the children’s clothes that are in a pile in the corner of the room, and maybe even cut up some fruit and boil eggs so you’re able to eat a normal amount the next day.

Postpartum doulas do that.
